Creel Enroute Home From Saipan For Reburial Mrs. C. F. Creel of Joyce has been notified by telegram from Fort Worth, Texas, that the body of her son, 2nd Lt. John Benjamin Creel, was enroute home from Saipan. Lt. Creel was killed in action on August 2, 1944 while on duty with the First Battalion, Second Marines at Saipan. He is survived by his wife, who now resides in Massachusetts, and a son, Johnny; his mother; seven brothers, Aaron, Silas, Hezzie and Julian Creel, of Joyce, Dewey Creel of Winnfield, Ivy R. Creel of Monroe, and Cortez Creel of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Rajeh of Duquesne, Penn., Mrs. Alon Gregory of Joyce, and Miss Geraldine Creel of Joyce. No. 2 Military Funeral Service Today For Lt. John B. Creel Military funeral services for Lieutenant John Benjamin Creel, who was killed in action in the South Pacific in August, 1944, were held at the Old Union Church at Joyce at 3:30 p.m. today (Thursday) with the Rev. Robinson and Rev. St. Andrie officiating. Burial in the Old Union Cemetery was directed by Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Military rites were conducted by Winn Parish National Guard unit. Members of the Winn V. F. W. Post served as pallbearers. Lt. Creel was killed in action on August 2, 1944, while on duty with the First Battalion, Second Marines, at Saipan. He entered services in 1940, received his training at San Diego, Calif., and Norfolk, Va., and went overseas in December, 1943. Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Helen Josch of Torrington, Connecticut, who now lives in Massachusetts; one son, Johnny; his mother, Mrs. C. F. Creel of Joyce; seven brothers, Aaron, Silas, Hezzie, and Julian Creel, of Joyce, Dewey Creel of Winnfield, Ivy R. Creel of Monroe, and Cortez Creel of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Jajen of Duquense, Penn., Mrs. Alon Gregory of Joyce, and Miss Geraldine Creel of Joyce. Pallbearers were Louis Lane, P. K. Smith, Clinton W. Allen, Max Allen, Eli Harrell, and Herbert Harrison.
