All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 10, 1952 Winn Parish Enterprise Luther Crain, 51, Hurt at Sawmill, Dies on Sunday Funeral services for Luther Crain, 51, of Sikes, who died last Sunday in a Winnfield hospital, were held at Fellowship Baptist Church near Sikes Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. He died after an operation to treat a broken vertebrae which he suffered in an accident at a sawmill near Sikes on Christmas night. He was injured when a log fell on his back. Rites were conducted in the Fellowship church with Rev. Clyde Parker, assisted by Rev. Kendrick Hartsfield. Burial was in Fellowship Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield. Mr. Crain was a native of Winn Parish, and was employed by Lakeside Lumber Company at the time of his injury. He also farmed in Winn Parish. Survivors are two sons, Morris of Monroe and Benoit of Sikes; two daughters, Mrs. Marzelle Brantley, Monroe, and Melbie Sue Crain of Sikes; two brothers, I. D. of Sikes and W. A. of Dodson, Route 1; five sisters, Ms. W. L. Prince, Mrs. Iona Young, Mrs. R. L. Johnson, all of Sikes, Mrs. E. C. Adams, West Monroe, and Mrs. L. J. Womack, Dodson, Route 1. Pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Crain.
