Cross, 68, who died December 21 in Tyler, Texas, were held Friday, Dec. 22, with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery at Tyler. Mr. Cross was the brother of Mrs. W. C. Turner and Mrs. Ruth Cross Palmer of Winnfield, and was a former resident of Winnfield. A native of Buchanan, he had been in Tyler since 1913. His parents were the late Dr. Walter D. Cross and Willie Cross of Paris and Douglasville in Cass County. He attended the schools in Parish, Texas and Winnfield, La. At the time of his death he was President of Carlton Lumber Co. and a director of Wadel-Conally Hardware Co. He had previously been associated with the Carlton-Cross Sawmills, Inc., of Zavalla. A member of the Marvin Methodist Church, he had been active in the Elks Lodge and Masonic Lodge. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Cross served two years in the field artillery with one year of that time spent in France and Germany. He was discharged with the rank of sergeant. In addition to his two sisters of Winnfield he is survived by his wife and several nieces and nephews.
