Carpenter Buried Tuesday At Bethlehem Mrs. J. M. Carpenter, 50, who died Monday at 3:30 p.m. at her home at Calvin, La., was buried Tuesday afternoon at Bethlehem Cemetery near Calvin. Mr. Miller, pastor of the Winnfield Church of Christ, conducted the services, which were held at the Bethlehem Church. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro, La. She is survived by her husband, J. M. Carpenter, of Calvin; three children, Gilbert Carpenter and Mrs. Luther Frazier, both of Calvin, and Mrs. Charles Green of Florida; seven brothers and sisters, Albert Chandler, G. A. Chandler, Fate Chandler, Mrs. Lettie Fannin, and Mrs. Bettie Carter, all of Calvin; Richard Chandler of Oak Grove, La., and Mrs. Susie Blake of Corsicana, Texas; and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Carpenter, the former Martha Chandler, was born and reared in Winn Parish. She was a member of the Church of Christ. No. 2 Last Rites For Mrs. J. M. Carpenter Held At Bethlehem Cemetery Mrs. Martha Ann Chandler Carpenter, 58, who died Monday evening at 8:30 o'clock at her home near Calvin, La., following a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Bethlehem Church and interment was made in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Conducting the services were Mr. Aubrey E. Miller, Rev. Alwin Stokes, and Rev. R. F. Hancock. Mrs. Carpenter was a native of Winn Parish. For thirty-eight years she was a member of the Baptist Church. Then in 1942 she became a member of the Bethal Church of Christ. Surviving her are her husband, J. M. Carpenter of Calvin; three children, Gilbert Carpenter of Calvin, Mrs. Charles M. Green of Pensacola, Fla., and Mrs. Luther Frazier of Calvin; three sisters, Mrs. Susie Blake of Corsicana, Texas, Mrs. Betty Carter of Calvin, and Mrs. Lettie Fannin of Calvin; four brothers, Albert Chandler of Calvin, W. R. Chandler of Oak Grove, and Fate and G. A. Chandler of Calvin. Also eight grandchildren and a host of friends survive. Pallbearers were W. H. Colllins, Lenard Chandler, D. L. Carter, Bill Howard, Homer Chandler, and Heard Chandler.
