Carter Dies At His Home On Winnfield, Route 4 D. F. "Seed" Carter, 74 years, four months, an done day, died at his home on Route 4, Winnfield, November 20, 1948, from a heart ailment. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Bethlehem Church with the Rev. F. M. Shows officiating. Assisting were Rev. C. M. Robinson and Rev. R. F. Hancock, pastor of the church. Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Pallbearers were D. L. Carter, Travis Taylor, Virgil Carpenter, Dennis Weeks, Gilbert Carpenter, and Willie Burnum. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty Chandler Carter; three sons, G. B. Carter and D. L. Carter, Route 4, Winnfield; D. N. Carter, Baton Rouge; three daughters, Mrs. Julia Bates, Mrs. Evie Bates, and Mrs. Emma Peterson, Route 4, Winnfield; one brother, C. B. Carter, Route 4, Winnfield; thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a large number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
