C. Culbertson of the Gaars Mill Community drowned last Saturday afternoon in Little River, three miles south of Georgetown. They were wading in shallow water when three of them stepped off into deep water and panicked. It was reported that the other daughter, along with a neighbor, Robert Tolbert, attempted to save the three, but all four of the Culbertsons drowned and Tolbert was unable to help them. Parents of the children were fishing from a boat within sight of the tragedy but could not get to them in time to save them. Mr. Culbertson did recover the body of one of the children, and two other bodies were recovered by Grand Parish authorities before dark, but the body of Cathey was recovered Sunday morning. The children were Linda Faye Culbertson, 16, Wanda Joyce Culbertson, 15, Cathey Annette Culbertson, 11, and Gary Steve Culbertson, 10. Funeral services for the four were held at 3 p.m. Monday in Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willie Broadway, Rev. Aubrey Branton, and Rev. Billy Smithart officiating. Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. In addition to the parents, the children are survived by two brothers, Harold and Kenneth, and their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Beckham of Carthage, Miss., and Mr. Bob Culbertson of Philadelphia, Miss.h
