R. Cupp, 84, Held Here Dec. 14 Funeral services for Mrs. J. R. Cupp, 84, of Winnfield, who succumbed at a local hospital Friday, Dec. 13, 1956 were held at the Chapel of Southern Funeral Home Friday afternoon. Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Pat Harrell, John L. Holmes, Robert Heard, John Jackson, Harwell Allen, and Melton Hightower. A native of Union Parish, Mrs. Cupp has lived most of her life in Winnfield, with the exception of a few years spent in Arizona. In excellent health until last June, she was only seriously ill several weeks before her passing. She had been a member of the First Baptist church for many years. Surviving are one son, W. R. Cupp, Laurel, Miss; five daughters, Mrs. Sion Jenkins, Winnfield, Mrs. Lee Melton, Maplewood, La., Mrs. Dave Jennings, Fresno, Calif., Mrs. M. W. Vasstine, Baton Rouge, Mrs. George Burns, Seattle, Wash. She also leaves nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
