E. Curry Funeral services for James E. Curry, 92, of Monroe, formerly of Winnfield, were held at the First Baptist Church Friday afternoon, May 20, with the Rev. Alwin Stokes and the Rev. Fred Flurry officiating. Burial was in the Beech Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dudley Shell, John McCloy, Clyde Swanson, and Horrie Boyette. Mr. Curry died last Thursday in a Monroe hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Caldwell Parish in 1857, he moved to the Beech Creek community when he was a young man. For many years he was postmaster, merchant, and farmer there. In 1914 he moved to Winnfield, where he operated a shoe repair shop until his health failed him about three years ago. Since that time Mr. Curry has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. A. L. Peters of Monroe. Survivors are three sons, Warren W. Curry of Winnfield, A. E. Curry of Pontiac, Mich., and Clarence Curry of Vicksburg, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Glaiser of Springhill and Mrs. A. L. Peters; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Out of town persons attending the funeral were Dr. and Mrs. A. L. Peters, Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Curry and Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Curry, Vickburg, Miss.; Mrs. Charles Glaisner, Springhill; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Dodgen, Jr., Monroe; Mrs. A. L. Peters, Jr., Alexandria; Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Peters, Pineville; Mrs. Kate Meadow, Olla; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fullerton, and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Breihn, Jonesboro.
