She had just celebrated her 103rd birthday seven days prior to her death on July 29, 1999. Accolades were presented during a special birthday celebration on July 24, 1999 at her home. Her husband Isaac Calhoun died on September 12, 1957. To this couple, eight children were born. Elsie Calhoun Jones (Gus), Calvin, Louisiana; Athalean Calhoun Archey (Thomas), Shreveport, Louisiana; Walter Calhoun (Vada Lou), Calvin, Louisiana; Richard Calhoun (Mary), Sacremento, California; Isaac Calhoun, Jr. (Marguarite), Lafayette, Louisiana; and Husher Calhoun, Sr., (Inez) of Winnfield, Louisiana. Deceased: Hazie and Marshall Calhoun of Calvin, Louisiana. Mrs. Jurllean Calhoun has six living children, twenty one grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Her longevity can be based on her faith in God, her healthful ways, the constant love and support from her family, and keeping a positive attitude during her lifetime. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 1999 at the Union Hill Baptist Church in Calvin, Louisiana. Burial will be at the Union Hill Baptist Church in Calvin, Louisiana. John Aitken, 81, formerly of Elberton, GA died Thursday, June 3, 1999 in Orlando FL. A native of Charlotte, NC he moved with his family to Elberton, GA in 1935. Following graduation from Elberton High School he attended South Georgia College, Douglas, GA on an Athletic scholarship. He was named to the Junior College All-State and All Southeastern Junior College basketball teams. He joined the Air Force and became a fighter pilot. During World War II, he completed two combat tours in North Africa and also flew combat in the European Theater. He was credited with four and a half kills as a pilot and was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with Silver Cluster and French Croix DeGuerre Medals. Following retirement, he moved to central Florida in 1978. He was preceded in death by his father, John Aitken Sr., his mother, Leila Blackburn Aitken and brother Russell Aitken. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Aitken of Colorado Springs, CO; a son, John Kenneth Aitken of Modesto, CA; one daughter, Lynette Aitken Towey of Las Vegas, NV; long time special friend and mother of his two children, LaVerne B. Aitken-Smith, a grandson, David Cobb and his wife Robbin of Dallas, TX. Mrs. Bryant, 91 of Goldonna, La. died Saturday, July 17, 1999 in the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La. She was a retired rural mail carrier and was a member of the Goldonna Eastern Star #244 and was a member of the Goldonna Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Bryant of Goldonna, La. and Evelyn Harrell and her husband, Marvin Harrell of Winnfield; one step son, Harold Bryant of Monroe, La.; two step daughters, Opal Easley and Hazell Johnson, both of Goldonna; one grandson, Edward Harrell and his wife Christy of Winnfield, La. and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Harrell of Winnfield, La; 11 step-grandchildren. Burial followed in the Hart Cemetery, Sikes, La., under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mrs. Fogger, 69 of Winnfield, died Monday, August 2, 1999 in the Rapides Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Neodesha, Kansas and was a homemaker. She was licensed minister of the Louisiana District of the Assemblies of God. Survivors are her husband, Rev. Lonnie S. Fogger of Winnfield; two sons, Rev. Mark Fogger of West Monroe, La. and Timothy Fogger of Jonesboro, La.; two daughters, Cherie Jones of Waxahachie, Texas and Rebecca Crochet of Grand Isle, La; one sister, Donna Feist of Overland Park, Ka.; 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ardith Walker and one grandchild. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern. Mrs. Collins, 88, of Winnfield died at Winn Parish Medical Center on August 13, 1999 after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Winnfield and a retired nurses aide from Martin's Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Sybil Barton of Winnfield; one sister, Estelle Vaughn of Bentley; two grandchildren, Roland Barton of Montgomery, LA and Mary Ann Tate of Winnfield; four great grandchildren including D. He was a native of Dodson and had resided in Shreveport for 42 years. He was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church and served two enlistments with the U.S. Army. He retired as an electronics technician for Sears after 25 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Cassyle Crain Price of Shreveport; two sons, Charles Price and wife Kay of Shreveport and Artie Price and wife Leigh Anne of Marshall, TX; two nephews, Larry and Jerry Price, both of Winnfield.
