Mrs. Naquin, 97, died Monday, July 24, in Glen Village, Shreveport. She had been an active, longtime member of First Baptist Church in Lafayette before moving to Shreveport. Mrs. Naquin was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Charles Naquin, and her parents, Seymour A. and Ida Jane Hornsby Love, who lived in Winnfield many years, rearing five sons and four daughters. All are now deceased. Survivors include three sons, Gerald L. Naquin of Port Charlotte, FL, R. Kent Naquin of Springfield and Gordon M. Naquin of Shreveport; two daughters, Janet N. Cooper of Alexandria and Dorothy N. Fleshman of Martinsburg, WV; two step-sons, Sidney J. Naquin of Lafayette and Chester J. She was a member of the East Winnfield Baptist Church and a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary and Charter Member of the Wolfcreek Handicraft Guild, Inc. A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Palestine Chapter of the Eastern Star and Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls and Greater Caddo Lake Association, Inc. She was a nurse for Dr. George Rodgers for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Harris Jordan and daughter, Cloya Lamay Alford and her parents, William Raymond and Mary Ann Lucas Taylor. Dr. Rodgers, age 83 of Winnfield, died Monday, August 14, 2000 at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, La. He was born in Lilly, GA on May 14, 1917. He attended medical school at George Washington School of Medicine in Washington, DC and received additional training at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA and Charity Hospital in Atlanta, GA and Shreveport, LA. Dr. Rodgers moved to Winnfield in 1947 and was one of the founders of Winnfield's first hospital in 1948. He practiced medicine until 1997. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Rotary Club. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Rodgers of Winnfield; son George Rodgers and daughter, Patricia R. Michelli and son-in-law, G.T. Mitchelli [Michelli]; three grandchildren, Georgia, Jimmy and Madeleine.
