Mrs. Barnes was a native of Winn Parish and lived in the area for many years. She was born on December 4, 1900, and died only 23 days short of celebrating her 105th birthday. A lady of many talents, she was an accomplished seamstress, a wonderful cook, and a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She was also a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Shreveport. Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Barnes, infant son, Lewis C. Barnes and grandson, Glendon Scott Barnes. She is survived by her son, Glendon Barnes of Houston, Texas, grandson, Greg Barnes of Morrison, Colorado, and sister, Gladys Taylor of Dodson, Louisiana, as well as several nieces and nephews. Services were held at Cypress Creek Baptist Church, Sunday, November 13, 2005 at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Rayford Chandler, Mrs. Barnes' great nephew, officiating, and Reverend Nick Verret assisting. Burial was the Cypress Creek Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home of Shreveport. [Submitter's Note: Photograph accompanies obituary.]********************** Reginald Bonnette Mr. Reginald Bonnette, age 87, of Calvin, La., passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at the Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield,La. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Calvin. Mr. Bonnette was a retired Logger and Painting Contractor. He was the son of the late Lee Bonnette and the late Estelle (Lambert) Bonnette. Mr. Bonnette was also preceded in death by his wife, Else Belle Bonnette; two son-in-laws, Larry Carpenter and Eddie Franks; and his daughter-in-law, Joan Bonnette. He is survived by his three daughters, Patsy Lester and husband David of Calvin, La., Dorris Leeper and husband Morris of Saline Lake, La., Sue Franks of Saline Lake, La; one son, Donnie "Red" Bonnette of Calvin, La; one sister, Maurine Patterson of Natchitoches, La; one brother, Bill Bonnette of Saline Lake, La; eleven grandchildren; twenty great- grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Calvin at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2005, with Rev. Carrol Garlington, Rev. Lamar Carpenter, and Rev. Gerald Roberts officiating. Interment followed at Sanders Chapel Cemetery in Calvin, La under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. She was the daughter of the late Woodrow Weaver and Ruthie (Murry) Weaver. She was also preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Corley and a brother Charles Weaver. Survivors include: her fiance, Travis Smiley of Winnfield; one son, John M. Corley and his domestic partner Robert L. McBroom of Goldonna, La; one daughter, Angela Henderson of Goldonna, La; one sister, Martha Weaver of Winnfield, La; one brother, David Weaver of Creston, La; three grandchildren: Dana, Brittany and Jacob Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Simmons passed to be with the Lord on December 4, 2005. He was born February 26, 1923 in Sikes, LA. He was pre-deceased by his wife Doris Melba Hughen Simmons, and his second wife Melba Lea Sayes Simmons, one son and one granddaughter. Born to William Vincent Simmons and Pennie Ann Parker Simmons, who pre-deceased him, along with sisters Mary Avis Tucker, Norine Simmons and Nora Lee Simmons, brothers Grady Simmons and William Sharon Simmons. He is survived by his wife Onis Davis Simmons of West Monroe, LA, his daughter Melba Karen Simmons Jetton and husband Gerald of Mt. Vernon, TX, one son Douglas L. Proverbs 31:28. Mary Viola Warren Gilson Shores, affectionately known as "Little Mama," passed away at 4:10p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2005 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 110. She was born in Gansville, Louisiana on August 24, 1895 and was a longtime resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. Mrs. Shores retired from Hearne's Department Store in Shreveport and soon after opened Gilson's Dress Shops. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shreveport for over 75 years and was lovingly known as the "Hat Lady" because of her stylish hats. She is preceded in death by her two children, daughter, Vera Gilson Burns Brown and son, E.H. Gilson, Sr. She is survived by six grandchildren, Dana Rae Gilson Prince Kinard, Mary Ann Gilson Gardner, Frances Bernice Gilson, E.H. "Gil" Gilson, Jr., Frank Gilson Burns, Edward Hughes "Ned" Burns; a daughter-in-law, Frances A. Gilson; fifteen great grandchildren; eighteen great-great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery near Winnfield under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. David was born on February 4, 1959 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He graduated from Monterey High School and attended Texas Tech University. David served his country in the U. S. Air Force. David loved the Lord and studied his Bible. He enjoyed fishing and fly tying. David had many talents including painting in watercolors, woodworks and making jewelry. He is survived by his wife, Delores of Lubbock, TX, a daughter, Gillian Dawn Newcum of Lubbock, his parents Linda and Bobby Jarvis of Ransom Canyon, TX, Curtis and Debbie Jean Newcum of Midland, his grandfather Curtis W. Jimmy Williams, 67, of Winnfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, in the Winn Parish Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. Williams was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, Winnfield. He was a logger and worked in the woods all his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Gresham Williams and his sister, Donna Berry. Jimmy Williams is survived by his wife, Dorothy H. Williams of Winnfield, LA; one son, Michael Williams of Atlanta, LA; two daughters, Stacey Williams of Winnfield, LA, Jaime Schilling and her husband, Clint of Atlanta, LA; one granddaughter Brittney Carter of Winnfield, LA; one brother, John T.
