Gongre Funeral services for Earl Edward Gongre will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2000 in the New Salem Baptist Church. Officiating will be Revs. Terry Taylor and Mark Roberts. Burial will follow in the St. Maurice Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mr. Gongre, 67, of Montgomery, LA., died Monday, Jan. 3 in the St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He was a Winn Parish Native and served as Chief of Police in Montgomery for 17 years. He was a member of the Louisiana Sheriffs Association and Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Catholic faith. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors are: his wife, Theresa W. Gongre of Montgomery; two sons, Edward Gongre of Montgomery and Wayne Gongre of W. Memphis, AR; one daughter, Patricia Kanady of Montgomery; one sister, Louis Pender of Montgomery; four grandchildren, Jason, Tom, Ronnie and Justin. Friends may visit in the New Salem Baptist Church from 6 p.m. Tuesday until service time on Wednesday. Moore, 75, of Winnfield, LA departed this life on Saturday, January 1, 2000 to begin his eternal life with our Lord and Father. Born on August 20, 1924, in Rayville, he graduated from Rayville High School and enlisted in the Army Infantry 70th Division-Trailblazers, and was designated as a sharpshooter. Robert was a member of VFW Post 4317. He attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Winnfield. He was a barber, hairdresser and master wig maker for over 50 year [years]. Survivors include his wife, Martha Dollar Moore, three sons, Danny Moore of Morgan City, LA, Donnie (Don) Moore of Clarks, LA and Ronnie Moore of Fort Worth, TX; and one daughter, Denise Desadier of Bossier City, LA. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Mark, Blake, Mr. and Mrs. Nicole and Patrick Brown, Micah, Aaron, Sabrina and Loi Roberta; three great grandchildren, Jewelee, Joey and Hunter; three sisters, Bernice Williams of Marrero, LA, Lois Graves and husband James of Bastrop, LA and Dorothy Davenport of Marrero, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a deacon of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, past Worshipful Master of King Solomon Lodge #81 AF&M, a 33 Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a former member of the Board of Supervisors for Southern University, former Vice President of Winn Parish Voter's League and was owner and operator of Tim's Barber and Beauty Shop. Survivors include his wife, Celestine Wade of Winnfield; one son, Euris Wade of Compton, CA; one daughter, Myrtle Barnes of Winnfield; four sisters, Artenie Carpenter and Zettie Carpenter, both of Winnfield, Eva Brown of Dallas and Ice Anthony of Bakersfield, CA; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
