Mr. Jordan, age 56 of Winnfield died Friday, December 29, 2000 in the Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston, LA. He was a graduate of Winnfield Senior High School, a member of the Winnfield First Baptist Church and a member of the National Guard. He was a butcher. Box 810, Memphis, TN 38101.********************** Francis Walker Francis Walker, 79, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2000 in Corpus Christi, Texas after a long illness. Francis was born on March 16, 1921 in Carlisle, Arkansas. Shortly thereafter, Francis moved with his family to Winnfield, Louisiana where he resided for most of his life. Frances moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1995 due to his illness where he was able to be with his brother, Murphy, who suffered from a similar illness. Francis attended college at Louisiana Tech, however, his studies were postponed due to his enlistment in the armed forces. Francis served his country in World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps with duties including tail gunner and radio operator. Subsequent to his service in the war, Francis returned to Louisiana Tech to complete his degree. Francis was a lifelong resident of Winnfield where he was self- employed as a custom carpenter and homebuilder. Those who knew Francis will remember his passion for fishing and his love of the outdoors. Francis is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and William Edward Walker, brother William Edward Walker, Jr., and brother Murphy Lewis Walker. Francis is survived by his sister-in-law Kay Vaughn Walker, his nephew M.E. Walker, II, and niece Shawn Walker Anderson. Services for Francis were held in Winnfield on Wednesday, January 3, 2001. Mr. Mosley was a member of Chatham United Methodist Church. He was a retired forester from Tremont Forestry and Crown Zellerback. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. and was an Army Veteran of WW II. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Garry Lane Mosley, Jr. (Rocky). Burial was in Coldwater Baptist Cemetery. Mrs. Cedars died Thursday, January 11, 2001 after a lengthy illness. The Rev. Ralph Johnson and the Rev. Earl Marr, former pastors of Calvary Baptist Church in Natchitoches, officiated at the services which were under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Visitation was Friday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Cedars, 48, was executive secretary in the External Affairs office at Northwestern. Before assuming that position last year, she served for 23 years as secretary and word processor operator specialist in the Sports Information Office at NSU. Hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students received guidance and assistance over the years form [from] Mrs. Cedars, who was held in high esteem at Northwestern and throughout Louisiana higher education circles for her professional skills and dedication and also her warmth, sincerity, compassion and unselfishness. A scholarship fund has been established for students who work in the NSU sports information office in memory of Mrs. Cedars, who received a special award in 1999 from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association for her assistance with the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. Mrs. Cedars was recognized during half-time of a Northwester [Northwestern] basketball game at Prather Coliseum in 1998 for 20 years of service to the NSU Athletic Department and the university community. Active over the years in church and religious activities, Mrs. Cedars was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Natchitoches where she was a Sunday School teacher and a leader in the Girls in Action organization. She was also active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Mrs. Cedars was involved in numerous charitable activities, including work with the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Special Olympics and March of Dimes. She handled secretarial duties for the Red River Bassmasters fishing club and assisted in the administration of the Hagewood Water System. Born October 26, 1952, in DeRidder, Mrs. Cedars is survived by her husband, Bobby J. Cedars of Natchitoches; parents Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Greene of Natchitoches; sons Jacob Todd Cedars and his wife Jodie of Natchitoches and Randall Brian Cedars and his wife Heather of Robeline; sisters Donna Lynne Greene and Cathy Denise Garland, both of. He retired from the Continental Can Co. as a paper machine adjuster after 42 years of service. Our fondest memories are of a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Survivors are one son, Bobby Horne of Atlanta, LA; three sisters, Hazel Roberts and Sybil Guilliams of Winnfield, LA and Vernell Poisso of Atlanta, LA; one brother, Try [Troy] James of Atlanta, LA; seven grandchildren, Robert Horne, Paul Horne, Clay Horne, Tracy Horne, Jeff Horne, Tommy Horne ,and Blenda [Belinda] Horne Simmons; and 12 great grandchildren. She worked for the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles in Winnfield for over 10 years. LeAnna was retired and enjoyed working in her garden, spending time with her family and enjoying her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Jones and her mother Evelyn Jones. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Grant of 34 years; daughter Angela and Chuck Luke and their daughter; her daughter, Brenda Cox; her son Kenneth and Julie Wilkinson and their son; Kevin Wilkinson, his fianc‚, Chay and their son. She is also survived by sister, Kathy and Steve Porter; brothers, Kevin and Kenneth Jones. A private memorial was held at the Burns Riverside Chapel. Survivors are her husband, Ralph Moseley of Joyce, LA; one daughter, Patricia Aubry of Friendswood, TX; one son, James Edward Pullig of Dodson, LA; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Rorary [Rory] Pullig, her husband Teddy Pullig, parents Charles and Minnie Murphy, one sister, Ruby Gay; grandson Macky L. Mr. Thompson, age 46 of Shreveport, LA died Monday, January 22, 2001 in the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. He was a Shreveport resident, a native of Sikes, LA, a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport and a welder and Mill Wright. Survivors are his wife Imogene Ford Thompson of Shreveport, LA; two sons, Chad Christopher Thompson and Sean Patrick Thompson, both of Shreveport; two daughters, Wendy Rachel of Shreveport, LA and Kristi Elliott of Winnfield, LA; two sisters, Barbara Tucker of Sikes, LA and Harleen Robertson of Pollock, LA; one grandchild, Alexis Elliott.
