Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002 and from 9 a.m. Friday until noon in the funeral home. Mr. Radescich, age 92 of Winnfield, LA died Sunday, April 28, 2002 in his residence. He was a native of Winnfield, LA, a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII, a graduate of LA Tech University, member of First Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder. Survivors are one son, Joseph Drew Radescich of Simsboro, LA; and two sisters, Virginia R. Campbell of Opelika, LA and Mrs. Louis B. He was a native of Winnfield and a resident of Goldonna, LA, a graduate of Northwestern State University, served in the U. S. Navy during Vietnam and was a member of Goldonna Baptist Church. He was employed by Exco Resources in Goldonna as a Process Operator. She was born August 18, 1918 in Hebert, LA and was a resident of Winnfield, LA since 1948. Mrs. McElwee served the community through her membership at First United Methodist Church, where she served on the board and many committees of the church. She was a member of the Irene Woods Sunday School class and the United Methodist Women. She was an active member of the Lazy Daisy Homemakers and an associate member of the Retired Teachers Group. The funeral serves were held at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Winnfield, LA on Monday, May 6, 2002 with Rev. Barry Hoekstra officiating. Mr. Baum was born in Winnfield on March 19, 1964 and died Monday, May 13, 2002 near Chatham from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. He was a senior operator at High Island for Dominion Exploration and Product, Inc. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Wayne Baum. Mrs. Deckard, age 58 of New Iberia, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Winnfield. Mrs. Deckard obtained a degree in Elementary Education from Northwestern University in 1964. She taught at Forest Hill Elementary in Shreveport where she received Teacher of the Year. She also taught in Houston before moving with her family to Aberdeen, Scotland. She was very involved in different civic organizations and served as Vice President and Treasurer of the Women's Petroleum Club and was honored for such by personal invitation to the Queen's Garden Party. She and her family later moved to the Netherlands, Houston and then settled in New Iberia. Mrs. Deckard earned Special Education Certification from USL, then taught in New Iberia at Avery Island, Johnston Elementary, and North Street Elementary. Both at Johnston and North Street, she was chosen by her peers as Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Deckard was a volunteer for Special Olympics for many years. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Alice Martin Kelley. Survivors include her husband, Max L. Burial was in the Wright Cemetery at Sikes, LA under the direction of Southern Funeral Home,, Winnfield, LA. Mrs. Underwood, age 76 of Sikes, LA died Monday, May 20 in the North Monroe Hospital. She was a native of Norphlett, AR, member of Hurricane Grove Baptist Church, worked at Olin Kraft for many years and was a retired lunchroom worker at Sikes High School. Survivors are one son, Tommy Underwood of Sikes, LA; one daughter, Sudie Underwood of Jena, LA; one brother, Pete Shell of Angleton, TX; two sisters, Lora Anne May of Grayson, LA and Francis Walker of Columbia, LA; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Reverend Pinder died Monday, May 27, 2002 at the DeSoto Regional Medical Center in Mansfield, Louisiana. He was a native of Montgomery, LA, a 1954 graduate of Louisiana College, a World War II U.S. Army Veteran, ordained Southern Baptist minister for over 50 years, pastoring various churches in North Louisiana. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Opal "Vickie" Pinder of Mansfield, LA; one son, Dennis R. Pinder and wife Cindy of Logansport, LA; one daughter, Cheryl Robbins and husband Andy of Mansfield; one brother, Buford C. Pinder of Montgomery, LA; one sister, Barbara Vinson of Houston, TX; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harve C. Pinder and Anna Garner Pinder, his brothers Herschel Pinder and Glen R. Pinder and sister, Effie Crayon. Friends may call in the church from 4 p.m. Wednesday until time of services on Thursday.
