Mrs. Bonnette, age 63, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2003 at Grand Isle, LA. She was a native of Revere, MA and enjoyed camping and fishing. She retired from BellSouth for whom she was employed for 38 years. May 11, 2003. Visitation will be Wednesday, may 14, from 5-8 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield. A private graveside service will be held May 15, 2003 and will be followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Winnfield. Officiating will be Rev. Tim Lawson, with organist Fran Shell Walton providing accompaniment. Mattie Frances was born on November 28, 1922 in Winnfield. Louisiana to Malma and Cavett Cookston. She graduated from Winnfield High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and the Blue Jackets. Mattie Frances was married to Dr. Sion Ray Jenkins and that union produced three children. She lived virtually all of her life in Winnfield, Louisiana. Mattie Frances took great pride in her home. Among her many interests were arts and crafts, gardening and bridge games. She dearly loved her children, her family and friends. Mattie Frances was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Home Demonstration Club and the Louisiana Forestry Association. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield, where she served as Acolyte chairman, as well as on the Administrative board and the Pastor/Staff Relations Committee. Mattie Frances is preceded in death by her parents. her husband Ray and her two brothers, Dr. Cavitt Cookston Jr. and Dr. Jimmy Cookston. She is survived by her three children, Karen of San Diego, CA; Ellen and her husband Johnnie of Church Point, LA; and Eddie and his wife Gina of Shreveport, LA. He was born in Opelousas, LA, was a veteran of the US Air Force, a member of Welcome Home Baptist church where he served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent was employed by Willamette Industries for 31 years, serving as maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the American Angus Association, the LA. Cattleman's Association and the Winn Parish Cattleman's Association. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
