Pineville Man Found Dead at Base of Hunting Stand Saturday Night Cause of death of a 76-year-old Pineville man found dead at the base of his hunting stand Saturday night has been ruled as "natural causes" by Winn Parish coroner Dr. Randolph Williams. The body of Ray D. Webster was found by other hunters after he failed to return home. He had been a lifetime resident of the Wheeling community before moving to Pineville several years ago, Dr. Williams said. Dr. Williams said that due to blood on the victim and several shell casings at the scene, there was early speculation that Webster had been shot. But the coroner said that an initial examination at the morgue showed that a shooting was not indicated. He went on to say that an autopsy performed Monday morning showed Webster had suffered from a heart attack. Webster left to go hunting about 6:30 Saturday morning. Other hunters had spotted his truck and four-wheeler so knew his general whereabouts. The coroner speculates the victim suffered a heart attack while in a 22-foot climbing tree stand and fell, severely fracturing his right arm and foot. His attempts to call for help with a cell phone and by firing his rifle were unsuccessful. Dr. Williams commended Winn Parish Sheriff's deputies Paul Alsup and Darrel Winder for their response and excellent job of scene control and for assistance from several civilians including Danny Crew.*********************************** Obituaries, Winn Parish Enterprise, Winnfield, Louisiana, November 22, 2000, Page 7-B Margaret Harrel Services for Margaret Alice Harrel were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2000 in First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Barry Hoekstra and Steve Caraway and Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating.
