Richard DeBusk officiating. Burial will be in Iatt Cemetery under the direction of Hixon Brothers, Alexandria. Mr. Poisso, 93, of Dry Prong died Monday, October 4, 1999 in the VA Medical Center. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church; past member of American Legion and an active member of the V.F.W. Sergeant Major Joseph Poisso was active duty military for 30 years during which he was General Pattons personal body guard. He received the silver star and purple heart with oak lead cluster. He also was active reserve for over 10 years. Survivors include his wife, Lorie W. Poisso of Dry Prong; three sons, Michael P. of Dry Prong, Joseph R. Poisso of Washington, DC, and Daniel Poisso of Ore City, TX; four daughters, Gloria Everherdt of New Orleans, Josette Thames of Shreveport, Joette Phillips of Long View, TX and Donna Cole of California; two brothers, Bentley Poisso of Colfax, Nat Poisso of Tullos; two sisters, Ozelar Lasyone of Galena Park, TX and Louella Witherall of Pineville; and eight grandchildren. Mr. Varnell, age 92 of Winnfield, died Friday, October 1, 1999 in the Guest House of Bossier. He was a Winnfield native and a member of the First United Methodist church. He was a retired Drivers License Examiner for the State of Louisiana. Burial followed in the Verda Cemetery, Verda, La. Mr. Stone, 69, of Winnfield, died Wednesday, October 6, 1999 in the Winn Parish Medical Center. He was a native of Arkansas and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the East Winnfield Baptist Church and a retired custodian for the church. Survivors are his wife, Cecile Stone of Monroe; one brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Martha Stone of Winnfield; four sisters, Audrey Gregg and her husband Robert, of Ohio, Lovis McCarty of Winnfield, Wanda Finney and her husband, John of Little Rock, AR, Phylis Foster and her husband, Buddy of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews. She was a Winnfield native, a member of the First United Methodist church of Winnfield and a nurse liaison for the Satellite Rehabilitation of Natchitoches and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors are one son, Steve Long, of Winnfield; one daughter, Stephanie Long of Alexandria; her mother, Doris W. Nugent of Winnfield, and one brother, Ben Nugent, of Chestnut, La.********************** Roy D. Buchan Funeral services for Roy D. Burial will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery near Dodson. Mr. Buchan, 81 of Arcadia, formerly of Winn Parish, died Tuesday, October 12, 1999 in the Minden Medical Center. He was a native of the U.S. Army; 159th Field Artillery, Battery A, serving in World War II. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a retired machinist for Carey Salt Mine in Winnfield. Survivors are one step-son, James Nolan of Sandusky, MI and his wife, Selene; one daughter and son-in-law, Margie Faye Walton and Roy N. Walton, Sr. of Georgetown, La; one step-daughter, Ruth Ingles and her husband Darrel of Dodson, La; three brother, Arvel Budhan, Troy Buchan both of Jonesboro, La., and Troyce Buchan of Quitman, La.; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mr. Waller, 81 of Pineville died Tuesday, October 19, 1999 in Rapides General Hospital. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Alexandria; a charter member of the South Alexandria Rotary Club, a 32nd Degree Mason and a 50 year member of the Western Star Lodge #24 F & AM in Monroe. Mr. Waller was a 1940 graduate of LSU and retired from Vocational Rehabilitation as Training Coordinator for the State of Louisiana. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in both World War II and Korea, and obtained the rank of Major and was awarded two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Sandifer Waller of Pineville; three daughters, Kathleen Waller Hebert of West Monroe, Rebecca Waller Bordelon of Boyce and Merilyn Waller Taylor of Magnolia, TX; one sister Dovie Tyler of Colfax; five grandchildren.
