Malcolm Self and Dr. Herb Dickerson officiating. Burial was in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Barbara retired from Old South Life Insurance Company after 14 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was very active in the Chancel Choir. Survivors include her husband, John R. Chandler Funeral services for Leonard E. Chandler, 77, were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2001 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating was Rev. Donnie Lodatto, pastor of Morningside Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Don Bush. Interment followed in Forest Park West Cemetery. Mr. Chandler, a native of Dodson, LA and resident of Shreveport, LA for over 43 years, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2001 in Shreveport, LA. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church for 45 years. Daddy was a very devoted and gentle Christian family man who loved golf, bowling, and pool. He graduated from Dodson High School in May of 1941. After graduation, he moved with mother Esther to Shreveport, for a short period he was in the Navy during World War II. He went to work for National Biscuit Company in Bossier City, LA for several years then worked at Morton Foods. From there he went to Foremost Dairies where he worked until he retired due to health problems. He and Mary Ellen lived in Shreveport their entire married life. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 1, 1998 and spent many years enjoying their children and grandchildren. Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by his parents, James (Jim) Lewis Chandler and Nancy Esther Shows Walsworth Chandler; wife, Mary Ellen Rogers Chandler; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by three sisters, Vermelle Shively and husband, Leroy, Gladys Taylor, and Beulah Barnes; brother-in-law, C. Wilson Rogers and wife, Ruth; two sons, Edward Dale Chandler and Gary Wayne Chandler; daughter, Brenda Carol Chandler Morgan and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Kristopher and wife, Heather, Kory, Tammy, Dana, Russell and wife, Kelly, Hoyt and wife, Becca, Dale, Tracye, Britain-Anne, Kevin, Farris, Nathan, James, Robert and wife, Lillie, and Amy; and ten great grandchildren. She had been in the hospital continuously since an automobile accident March 15, 2001. Ann was the daughter of the late Myrtice S. and W. Warren Allen of Winnfield, LA. Her grandparents were the late Myrtice Amos and George M. Simpson of Shreveport, and Lula Perkins and Walter W. Allen of Winnfield, LA. She is survived by her husband, Eugene W. Cavanaugh; two sons, Jim A. and Jake A Cavanaugh; one sister, Wendy Allen Roach of Bossier City; one brother, Chris Allen of Ruston; one aunt, Dorothy S. Johnson of Shreveport; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Ann grew up in Winnfield, LA, graduated from NSU, married Eugene and spent her entire life as a faithful mother and wife in Leesville, LA. She had a graduate degree from McNeese. Ann taught French and English at several Vernon Parish schools and had taught at Simpson High School several years at the time of her accident. She loved to organize and take trips with adults and students, was an avid quilter, and belonged to several quilting guilds. Ann was a member of the FUMU, Leesville, LA.
