Pender, 73, of Montgomery died Thursday, August 31, 2000 in the Schumpert Medical Center, Shreveport. She was a native of Montgomery, a homemaker and a retired house mother from Pinecrest State School where she had worked for many years. Mrs. Luc is survived by one son;, Byron Luc of Winnfield, LA; one daughter, Barbara Desadier of Winnfield, LA; one sister, Audrey Puttman of St. Louis, Missouri; and two grandchildren Marcus and Brittney Desadier. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Scott for Aloncel "Nan", "Scial" Trahan, age 81, the former Aloncel Credeur who died Thursday, August 31, 2000 at 8:35 a.m. in the Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Entombment was in the Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum in Scott. The Rev. Henry J. Broussard, Pastor, St. Basil Catholic Church of Judice, was the celebrant of the funeral mass and conducted the services. Joni Hamilton, organist sang for the funeral mass, "J'irai la voir un jour", and "You'll Never Walk Alone". A native of Acadia Parish and a resident of Lafayette Parish for 50 years, Mrs. Trahan was the daughter of the late Cleopha Credeur and the former Telesia Hebert, both natives of Acadia Parish. Mrs. Trahan along with her first husband, Voorhies, was instrumental in pioneering the crawfish and farming industry within the state of Louisiana. She continued the production of crawfish and rice farming with her second spouse, Lucias. Mrs. Trahan was well-known for her creative talent as a seamstress. She was a member of the St. Basil Catholic Community of Judice and was formerly active as a Catholic Daughter. She will be sadly missed by her family. [Submitter's Note: Dustin Joins may be Dustin Goins]****************** Murphy Lewis Walker Murphy Lewis Walker, 77 of Corpus Christi, passed away on September 26, 2000, after a 14 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Murphy Walker was born on February 4, 1923 in Winnfield, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University. Murphy was a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps and served in the European Theater in World War II as squadron navigator. Subsequent to his service in World War II, Murphy returned to LSU to obtain his master's degree in Geology. Prior to finishing his master's work, Murphy was hired by the LaGloria Corporation and moved to Corpus Christi, where he started a long and successful oil and gas exploration career. In 1954, Murphy left LaGloria to form Engeo Oil and Gas with two other partners. Engeo was dissolved in 1960, at which time Murphy and partner John Cummins formed Cummins & Walker Oil Company, Inc. Murphy continued as president of Cummins & Walker until he was unable to continue the work he loved due to illness. Murphy was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, and numerous professional organizations. Most importantly, he was a loving, devoted husband and father to his wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kay Vaughn Walker; son and daughter-in-law Murphy L. (M. L.) Walker, II and Wendy L. Walker of Corpus Christi; daughter and son-in-law Shawn Walker Anderson and Charles W. Anderson of Dallas, granddaughters Emily and Kathryn Anderson, all of Dallas; and a brother, Francis Walker. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2000 at the Church of the Good Shepherd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
