He was a millwright and was retired from Plum Creek. Mr. Griffin was born January 3, 1940 in Rochelle Louisiana and is the son of the late Louie Griffin and Gladys Shirley Griffin. Ronald Morgan, First Baptist Church of Springhill, officiating. Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mr. Luther was born to Arthur and Gertrude Hurley Luther in Winnfield on April 2, 1931, and passed away in Shreveport, Louisiana, on August 9, 2006, following a lengthy illness. He lived over forty years in Lafayette and New Iberia while working in the oil industry and as an independent insurance agent before relocating to Springhill earlier this year. Mr. Luther was a member of the Masonic Hope Lodge #145 in Lafayette, the Habibi Temple of Lake Charles and was an Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Melba Camp, Elba Shepard and Patsy Bogues. Mr. Luther is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Jo Ann Montgomery Luther, two daughters: Brenda Hardaway of Richardson, Texas, and Jeanine Younger and her husband, Claude, of Denham Springs, Louisiana; four Grandchildren: Ginger and Kyla Hardaway and Cole and Jessica Younger; siblings: A. She has been a resident of Vivian, LA for a few years. Mrs. Tullos was born in Sikes, LA to Pencilla Kelly and Robert Luther Wilson. At the age of 63 Lottie retired from the State of LA after working for LSU Cooporative Services. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, working in her flower garden, and best of all, the grand children. Pallbearers will be: Kenny Smith, Mark Smith, Danny Ivie, Randy Hudson, Jim Paulizen, Donnie Maxey, Lynn Maxey, and Matt Smith. ===== Addie Mae Skains (June 19, 1920 - August 14, 2006) Addie Mae Skains Addie Mae Skains, age 86 of Winnfield departed at 5:05 p.m. on Monday, August 14 to be face to face with our Lord in Heaven. Her passing was 32 years to the day from the death of her husband, James in 1974. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Townley Taylor who also died at age 86, and her dad, Wiley Taylor in 1960. In addition, Addie Mae was preceded in death by three siblings, a sister, Virgie, and two brothers, Owen Taylor and Don Taylor. Mrs. Skains' primary vocation in life was that of a care giver, wife, mother, and grandmother. She retired from Winn Parish Hospital at age 74 after nearly 30 years of service as a CNA. She also participated in the intense care of her mother for several years and the care of two sister-in laws before their death. Mrs. Skains is survived by a son, James Ronald Skains and wife Amy of Baton Rouge and a granddaughter, Katie of Ponchatoula. In addition, she is survived by a daughter, Carrie Franks of Edmond, Oklahoma, a granddaughter Kim and her husband Aaron, and great-granddaughter Madison. Two other grandsons, Jeff and Casey and their sons, Daniel and Damon also survive Mrs. Skains. Ten nieces and nephews and their spouses survive their beloved ``Aunt Sissie.'' These included David and Sharon Dunn, Wanda and Joe Thompson, Patsy Steerman, Bill and Cindy Dunn, Tom and Patti Taylor of Texas, Charles Dunn and Todd Taylor of California, Marylan and PeeWee Duncan of Oklahoma, Tim and Stephanie Taylor of Mississippi, and Clete and Judy Williams of Alabama as well as numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins. Two sisters-in-law also survive Addie Mae, Jeri Skains of Montgomery and Mary Lee Taylor of Alabama. She is also survived by her adopted daughter and husband, Waydean and Dwight Callender of Winnfield, and her life-long friend, Ethel Lea Peters of Winnfield plus countless friends. Addie Mae Skains will long be remembered not only for her kindness and graciousness but also by her un-shakable faith in her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Skains was a 60 plus year associate of the ``Friends Church'' and attended numerous church conventions in several states.
