Mr. Flournoy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnfield, the Winnfield Kiwanis Club, the WSHS Quarterback Club and was co-Grand Marshal in the 2004 Winnfield Christmas Parade. He was retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of distinguished service and was a veteran of WWII. He was the son of the late William Flournoy and the late Mary (Fuller) Flournoy. Mrs. Mabe was born in Goul, Arkansas, but grew up in Transylvania, La. She graduated from business college and moved to Baytown , Tx. in 1949, where she lived for approximately 50 years until moving to Winnfield in 1997, where she resided until her death. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Melvin Braswell and the late Effie (Jones) Braswell. She is survived by her One Daughter, Pat Long and her husband Gene of Winnfield, La. Burial will be in Winnfield City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mr. Varnell, retired Chief Master Sgt. with the U.S. Air Force was a disabled veteran of WWII, Korean and Vietnam wars, a lifetime member of the VFW, member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield, member of the Miss- Lou and the Texas Blueberry Growers Association, and served a president of the Winnfield Senior High School Quarterback Club. Mr. Varnell is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Maxey Varnell.
