She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Many, La., and The Order of the Eastern Star. She was the daughter of the late Leon Mitchell and the late Hattie (Hayes) Mitchell. She is survived by her husband Harvey Derbonne; Two Daughters, Sherrie Rhodes and her husband Steve of Winnfield, La. Barbara Derbonne of Orlando, Fla. Cardino, Brian Shankles, Bruce Mitchell, and Brent McDaniel ===== Dannie Harris (May 7, 1933 - July 8, 2004) Winnfield, LA Dannie Harris, age 71 of Goldonna, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2004 at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Mrs. Harris was a member of the Goldonna Assembly of God. Funeral services will be 2PM Saturday, July 10, at the Goldonna Assembly of God in Goldonna. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 9, at the funeral home from 4PM until 9PM and on Saturday at the church from 1PM until time of services. Burial will follow in the Goldonna Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mary Rebekah Johnson, beloved wife of James William Johson went home to be with our Lord on the 5th of July, 2004. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late John W. Bear and Florence E. Bear. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James W. Johnson; her daughter, Rebecca Joan Westbrook; her brothers, Berkley B. Bear, John W. Bear, Jr., Wade A. Bear, and Howell T. Bud Bear; and her sisters, Lennie B. Allen, Louise B. Rovero, and Madeline Bear. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Hopewell, Virginia s memorial fund. ====== Laura Lillian Scoggin Jones (October 28, 1925 - July 14, 2004) Winnfield, LA Funeral services for Laura Lillian Scoggin Jones, 78, of Dodson, LA will be held at 11AM, Friday, July 16th at Cypress Creek Baptist Church in the Gansville community of Winn Parish. Reverends Nicholas Verret and Robert Leach will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cypress Creek Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield. Lil passed away on Wednesday, July 14th 2004 at St. Francis Medical Centr in Monroe after a lengthy illness. She was born in Newton, MS on October 28, 1925. Lil had a life-long passion for cooking, gardening, and quilting. She also loved traveling and had lived in more than half the United States and in England. Her sense of humor, compassion, and good advice will be missed by everyone blessed enough to have known her. She was preceded in death by Olan L. Jones, her husband of 58 years. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Lamar Jones, her parents C.D. and Eva Lorene Scoggin, and two brothers Edward and Thomas Scoggin. Survivors include three sons: Danny L. Jones and his wife Sarah of West Monroe, Larry L. Jones and his wife Patsy of Monroe, and Terry L. Jones and his wife Carol of WEst Monroe. Lil was lovingly known as "Granny" to her eight grandchildren: David Jones and his wife Sherry, Mason Jones, Clay Chandler, D.D.S. and his wife Emily, Sarah Chandler, Ben Jones, Mary Jones, Laura Jones and Amie Jones. She had two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Austin Jones. Lil is also survived by two sisters, Mildred Laird and her husband James H. of Shreveport and Janice Gressett of Newton, MS. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews and extended family. Pallbearers will be David Jones, Mason Jones, Clay Chandler, Ben Jones, Brian Jones, Jimmy Jones, Clay Scoggin, and Jamie Gressett. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 15th, in the Southern Funeral Home from 5PM until 9PM and on Friday at the church from 10AM until time of services. ===== Rolene Howell Jordan (September 22, 1930 - July 7, 2004) Winnfield, LA Rolene (Howell) Jordan, age 73, of Winnfield, La., died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Dubuis Hospital in Shreveport, La. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Winnfield. She was the daughter of the late D.M. Howell Sr. and the late Bertie (Fitzgerald) Howell. She is survived by her One Son and daughter-in-law David and Angela Walker of Ruston, La. Four grandchildren Wesley, Josh, Emily, and Jessi Walker Two great-grandchildren John Wesley and Gabe Walker Preceded in death by brother: D.M.
