She was a member of New Hope Methodist Church and worked in the Dodson High School Cafeteria for more than thirty years. McManus (Died October 1, 2004) Ray V. McManus Winnfield, La. Mr. Ray V. McManus of Atlanta, La passed away October 1, 2004 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La. at the age of 71 after a lengthy illness. Mr. McManus was preceded in death by his parents Mr. W.L. Mcmanus and Joy Fletcher McManus and a daughter: Elizabeth Anne McManus. He is survived by: his wife Patsy Heflin McManus; one daughter: Patsy McManus Otto of Michigan; and one son: William R. McManus and his wife Rae of Kansas; One Grandson: Robert M. Otremba and his wife Kimberly; Two Granddaughters: Patricia Otremba and Meredith McManus; Mother in law: Lucille Heflin formerly of Cotton Valley La. Mr. McManus graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Vocational Agriculture and Central Michigan University with a Masters in Industrial Management and Production. Mr. McManus was a U.S. Airforce Veteran having served as a pilot in the Vietnam War. Mr. McManus received the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal; Silver and Bronze Stars; and Distinguished Service Cross Medal. He retired in from the U.S. Air Force 1975 after serving 20 years with the rank of Lt. Colonel. Mr. McManus was also employed at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge for 19 years where he served as Farm Safety Specialist in Cooperative Extension Service in the Agricultural Engineering Dept. until retiring in 1996. He was a Mason and a member of Jonesboro Lodge #280 F&AM and a member of the Barak Shrine Temple in Monroe La. Mr. McManus was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church in Atlanta La and an avid outdoorsman. Masonic Funeral Rites will be held at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield Monday at 7PM with all masons invited to participate. Friends May visit with the family in the funeral home on Monday from 5PM until 9Pm and on Tuesday from 9AM until time of services. Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and a native of Winnfield. She was a member of the Georgetown Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
