Daily, prominent and esteemed Dodson residents, who succumbed Saturday night about 12 o'clock in a Winnfield clinic, were held at the Dodson Methodist Episcopal Church, Monday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. C. J. White, of Hodge, pastor of the Dodson church, of which the deceased was a member, and Rev. L. A. Morgan, minister of Jonesboro, officiating. The unfortunate young fellow, in crossing the street in Winnfield in the midst of a severe snowstorm, was run over, or struck by an automobile driven by a man named Phillips, of Memphis, Tenn., and it is said that his skull was fractured and possibly he received other injuries. He was rushed to the Fittz-Faith Clinic for treatment and expired about two hours after the accident. The accident was reported unavoidable, as it is thought that the driver of the automobile did not see the young man due to the heavy snow. Interment was made in Transport, Jackson Parish Cemetery. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The news of the tragic death was a great shock to the people of Dodson and other sections and the Daily family has the sympathy of a host of friends. Claude was well liked by all who knew him. He had been employed by W. D. Temple in the service station business. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Daily of Dodson; and the following brothers and sisters, James and R. L. Daily of Dodson; J. P. Daily of Jonesboro; Ray Daily of Dry Prong; Walter Daily of Pineville; Mrs. Mae Thompson of Jena and Miss Effie Bolton of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
