M. Daily of Dodson Saturday Feb. 29 Funeral Services Are Conducted Tuesday Afternoon Funeral services for George M. Daily, member of a well known and prominent Dodson family, who death occurred Saturday, February 29, 1936, after an illness of about 30 days, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Dodson M. E. Church of which the deceased was a member. Rev. C. J. White of Hodge, the regular pastor, and Rev. G. A. Morgan of Jonesboro, officiated. Interment was in the Transport Cemetery, Jackson Parish. Mr. Daily was about 70 years of age. He was a native of Alabama and during the year 1887 was married to Miss Georgia Self of Oklahoma. To this union nine children were born, seven of whom survive. They are Walter Daily, Pineville; James and R. L. Daily, Dodson; J. Paul Daily, Jonesboro; Ray Daily, Dry Prong; Mrs. Mae Hill, Jena; Mrs. Effie Bolton, Carlsbad, New Mexico. He is also survived by his widow of Dodson and two sisters, one in California and one in Arkansas. The Dailys have been residing for the past several years in Dodson, coming from Heavener, Oklahoma, where Mr. Daily was mayor for many years. A number of years ago Mr. Daily and his sons operated the Daily Motor Company at Dodson. Mr. Daily was big-hearted, genial and public spirited and always favored any movement having for its objective the advancement of this section. He will be greatly missed throughout the Dodson area as well as other sections. The deceased was affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Masonic Lodge. While he had been in ill health for a number of years, his condition only became critical a few weeks ago. A huge throng attended the funeral services thereby paying their last tributes to the life and memory of the deceased. A splendid array of floral offerings were in evidence. The following acted as active pallbearers: R. E. Dear, W. D. Temple, Albert Waller, W. W. Kornegay, H. R. Sylvest, Wesley Johns.
