Davis, 84, Former Resident, Buried Feb. 28 Alfred H. Davis, 84, familiarly known as "Dad", died at the North Louisiana Sanitarium, Shreveport, Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services were held at the Winnfield Cemetery Monday, February 28, at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating. Rev. Fred Flurry assisted. Burial was under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Dan Page, E. S. Cole, Prentiss Cole, John T. DeLoach, Clyde DeLoach, and Burton Williams. A native of Warrington, Miss., Mr. Davis spent about 25 years in Winnfield as agent for the old L. R. & N. Railroad. When it was merged with the L. & A., he went to Grammercy, La., as agent for L. & A., and upon his retirement returned to make his home in Winnfield. About eight years ago he went to Shreveport to reside with his son. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Order, and had spent his entire life in railroad work. His wife preceded him in death ten years ago. Surviving is one son, C. W. Davis, Shreveport; two granddaughters, Mrs. Dudley Shell, Winnfield, and Mrs. George Wilcox, Shreveport; and four grandsons, Atwood Davis, Long Island, N. Y.; John B. and Robert Davis, Shreveport; and Charles Davis, Jr., Wyoming.
