All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 13, 1950 Winn Parish Enterprise Mother, Daughter, Crews Residents, Killed By Auto Mrs. Sara Jane Davison, 71, and her daughter, Miss Ollie Estes, 42, both of Crews, were buried Sunday afternoon in Mt. Zion Cemetery. They met death in a accident near Clarence about 1 p.m. Saturday. The two women were killed instantly when the alighted from a Shreveport bound passenger bus on highway 71 in the path of a car driven by a Barksdale Air Force Base sergeant. Winn Parish Sheriff C. M. Robinson said that the driver of the bus and its passengers were never aware of the accident. Mrs. Davison and her daughter, Miss Estes, were caught on the bumper of the car. The sergeant was questioned by officers at the scene of the accident and then was released. A coroner's inquest held Monday gave a verdict of accidental death, stating that there was no evidence of criminal negligence. The sergeant was on his way home for a visit with his parents when the accident occurred. Mrs. Davison's survivors are listed as two sisters, Mrs. Perry Jennings and Mrs. Ed Bazar, both of Montgomery; one brother, John Kelly of Shreveport; two daughters, Mrs. Van Davison of Montgomery and Mrs. Jim Lewis of Epps; two sons, Alvis Estes of Montgomery and Leon Estes of Waskom, Texas, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mrs. Davison was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church and her daughter was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Funeral services were conducted in Mount Zion Methodist Church by Rev. Jack Shaw of Greenwood and Rev. Jerry Green of Union Hill, and Rev. O'Conner of the Hargis Church, with burial under direction of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield.
