Local Negro Is Killed In Truck Wreck Near Olla

A Winnfield Negro was killed in a pulpwood truck accident Monday near Olla,
reports Sheriff C. M. Robinson.  Vee Davis, pulpwood contractor and operator
of a store in L. and A., died as a result of injuries received when his loaded
truck overturned.

The accident occurred in LaSalle Parish, about three miles from Olla on the
Olla-Sikes gravel road.  He was meeting another vehicle on a sharp curve and
lost control of the truck.  It overturned in the gravel.

It was reported he was fastened under the truck and apparently died form
choking.

Two other men were passengers in the truck, Charlie Cole, a cousin of Davis,
and another, unidentified.  They were not badly hurt.
