Funeral services for John William Dawson, 76, retired farmer who died at his
home near Calvin on August 19, were held at Corinth Church on August 21 with
Rev. F. M. York, assisted by Rev. R. T. Long, officiating.

Born June 5, 1870, the deceased was 76 years, two months, and 14 days of age
at his death.  He united with the church years ago, being ordained deacon and
member of the Calvin Baptist Church and ordained at Corinth Church.

Surviving, besides his wife, are four sons, Joe and Murphy of Calvin, Mike of
Corinth, and Jimmy of Henderson, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Rosie Howell of
Arkansas and Mrs. Etoin Erskins and Mrs. Edith Whatley of Monroe.  Also
surviving are three sisters and two brothers, 18 grandchildren and 18 great
grandchildren.
