She had been in ill health for two years. Funeral services were held Friday, July 19, at Zion Church at 3 p.m. with Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister of Winnfield, officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased, Lyndle Maxwell, Bill Maxwell, Felton Maxwell, George Bailey, Leslie Collins, and Bobby Joe McConathy. Mrs. Dawson was a member of the Zion Baptist Church. She was born in Butler County, Ala., and moved to Red River Parish of Louisiana when a young girl. She has resided in Winnfield for the past 24 years. Surviving are her husband, Bob Dawson, Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Velma Maxwell, Route Two, Winnfield; Mrs. Idell McConathy, Route Three , Winnfield; three brothers, George Riley of Ward 9, Winn Parish; Trav Riley of Colgrade, and Gip Riley of Winnsboro.
