Bertis Dawson Dies After Long Illness

Funeral services for Charley Bertis Dawson, 63, of Winnfield, were held at 2
p.m. Friday in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home here with the Revs. Louis
B. Williams and Jerry Hext officiating.

Burial was in Corinth Tabernacle Cemetery for Mr. Dawson who died at 1 p.m.
Thursday, April 1, 1979 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

A native of Winn Parish, Mr. Dawson was a member of the Corinth Baptist
Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ethel Dawson of Winnfield; one son, Charlie
Dawson of Winnfield; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Steedley of Minden, Mrs.
Zettie Shirley and Mrs. Lettie Massey, both of Shreveport; his mother, Mrs.
Roxie Dawson of Winnfield; two brothers, Ralph Dawson of Winnfield and Virgil
Dawson of Dickson, Texas; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
