The remains are at Southern Funeral Home, arrangements were incomplete at Enterprise press time. Mrs. Dean was the mother of Clifford C. Dean, former member of the Winnfield Police force and now of Monroe. She also leaves about seven daughters. From: December 7, 1961 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Final Rites For Mrs. Katie Dean Held Dec. 2 Funeral services for Mrs. Katie C. Dean, 74, of Winnfield, were held at 11:00 a.m. December 2, 1961, in the Cypress Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. W. C. Grice and Rev. Jewell Kennedy officiating. Pallbearers were Wesley Cockerham, Ozie Cockerham, Edgar Cockerham, Amo Boyett, W. L. Fussell, and Linwood Boyett. Burial was in the Cypress Creek Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mrs. Dean died Thursday in a Winnfield hospital after a short illness. She is survived by one son, Clifford C. Dean of Odessa, Tex.; six daughters, Mrs. Florence L. Moore of Winnfield, Mrs. Ruby N. Howard of Bastrop, Mrs. Josie M. Rowe of Odessa, Tex., Mrs. Rozell Jones of Talladega, Ala., and Mrs. Jimmie Rowton and Mrs. Georgia Rowton, both of San Angelo, Tex.; a brother, Sill Cockerham of Dallas, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Mollie Coonce of Rayville; and 27 grandchildren.
