All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Kate DeLoach is Claimed By Death Sunday Funeral services for Mrs. Kate DeLoach, 76 years old, who died Sunday, April 9, were held at the family home in Winnfield Monday morning April 10. The Rev. H. H. McBride, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Joe Flanagan, pastor of the Zwolle Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. LaVelle Kennedy sang Abide With Me and Asleep In Jesus. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were; W. M. Shaw, Ovey Trahan, L. C. Carter, J. W. Mitchell and L. H. Smith, Winnfield, and Glen Anderson, West Monroe. Mrs. DeLoach was Miss Kate Trichel Carver of Natchitoches before her marriage to Mr. John E. DeLoach on September 14, 1892. Mr. and Mrs. DeLoach moved to Winnfield directly after their marriage and established a home here. Mr. DeLoach, who was sheriff of Winn Parish at one time, died July 30, 1904. Six children and nine grandchildren survive. The children are: John T. and Clyde DeLoach, Mrs. Jesse Corley and Miss Katie Lee DeLoach of Winnfield; Hampton DeLoach of West Monroe, and Carver DeLoach of Zwolle. Mrs. DeLoach, who was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Hampton Carver, Sr., of Natchitoches, was born January 27, 1868. Her father was a Natchitoches merchant and planter. He owned a store in Natchitoches and a plantation near that city. Mrs. DeLoach was the sister of the late Judge M. H. Carver, Jr., of Natchitoches. Among the out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mrs. M. H. Carver and daughter, Mariam, and son H. M. Carver, Jr., of Natchitoches; Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Snell of Minden; Mr. and Mrs. Carver DeLoach and daughter, Marjorie Anne, of Zwolle; Mr. and Mrs. Hampton DeLoach and children, Beryl Lynn and Donald, of West Monroe; Mrs. J. T. Odom of Route 3, Winnfield; Rayford Shaw of Pineville, and the Rev. Clyde Shaw of Melville. During her many years in Winnfield, Mrs. DeLoach made many friends. She was a devoted member of the Baptist Church.
