Funeral Services For Ben Dement Held Sunday

Funeral services for "Uncle" Ben Dement, 73, were held Sunday afternoon at
3:30 o'clock at the Union Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Harry H. Foster, Rev.
Earl D. Mercer, and Rev. Ernest Evans, all of Winnfield, officiating. 
Interment was made in the Union Hill-Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of
Edmonds Funeral Home.

Mr. Dement succumbed at his home near St. Maurice in Winn Parish at 6:15
o'clock Saturday afternoon, July 29, following an extended illness.

The deceased was born in Smithville, Bastrop County, Texas on September 15,
1870.  At an early age, he united with the Baptist Church.  He moved to Winn
Parish while a young man and lived the remaining years in the community where
he died.  He was a farmer.

Surviving Mr. Dement are his wife and twelve children.  He was preceded in
death by six children, having been father of eighteen.  Two wives also
preceded him in death.
