Denning was owner and operator of Western Auto Store and owner with his wife of Denning Furniture Store. He died at 11 a.m. in Veterans Administration Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Grayson Watson officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories on U. S. Highway 84 West. The 60 year old businessman was born December 26, 1922 in Rochelle, Louisiana. After moving with his family to Alexandria, he graduated from Bolton High School and attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Denning worked for 19 years with Western Auto Stores in various locations, before purchasing the local store and moving to Winnfield in 1964. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Winn Chamber of Commerce, and active in both business and community affairs. Survivors include his wife, Gould Collins Denning; a son, Earl H. Denning III of Shreveport; two daughters, Janet Denning of Winnfield and Linda Denning of Shreveport; his mother, Mrs. Earl H. Denning, Sr., of Alexandria; one sister, Mrs. Betty Gingras of Alexandria; and one brother, Dr. Harold Denning of Baton Rouge.
