Brother of R. R. Dennis, Jonesboro, Fatally Injured

Howell A. Dennis, 40, of Lafayette, a brother of R. R. Dennis, former
Winnfield resident, now living in Jonesboro, died Tuesday morning at 3:30 as a
result of injuries suffered in a car-truck accident near Jennings.

Dennis tried to pass a car and sideswiped an oncoming truck.  His arm was
sheared off below the elbow and later amputated above the elbow.  He died from
shock in a Jennings hospital.

R. R. Dennis drove to Jennings and arrived before his brother died.  Deceased
is survived by his widow and two boys, eight and six.

Howell Dennis was known to many in the Winnfield area.  He was an oil scout
and did considerable leasing in this area.
