Last Rites Held For Mrs. Mattie Doherty, Sunday

Last rites for Mrs. Mattie Woodard Doherty were held Sunday, December 4, at
Beech Creek Baptist Church.  The services were conducted by Rev. E. Evans,
pastor of the church.  Interment was held in the Beech Creek Cemetery under
the direction of Riser Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Eldridge Webb, Verlon Doherty, Odis Thompson, Arnold Lee
Buchanan, J. E. Reeves, and C. D. Waller.

Mrs. Doherty was a native of Sturgis, Miss.  She resided there until 1905.  In
the latter part of that year she moved to Louisiana and remained here until
the time of her death.

She was a member of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Miss. for fifteen
years.  After moving to this parish she joined the Shady Grove Baptist Church
and was a member for 40 years.  She was married in 1901 to Daniel Doherty, who
died in 1939.

Mrs. Doherty was the mother of six children, three living and three deceased.

Surviving are two sons, Dan W. Doherty of Winnfield and Marvin Doherty of
Natchez, Miss., one daughter, Mrs. Cardie Doherty Webb of Winnfield, eleven
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
