L. Dickerson Held Last Friday Funeral services for Henry LaFaith "Chick" Dickerson, who died at his home six miles west of Winnfield Thursday morning, were held Friday at 5 p.m. on his 65th birthday at the New Jerusalem Church with the Rev. T. T. Edwards of Atlanta, assisted by Rev. Alwin Stokes and Rev. W. D. Sherwood, of Winnfield, performing the ritual. Interment was made in the Jerusalem Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Bryant Sholars, Willie Bass, Earl Applewhite, J. D. Holmes, all of Winnfield, Andrew Hawsey of Winnsboro, and Monroe Shelton of Rt. 1, Winnfield, acted as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Cpl. Manuel Dickerson of Monroe, Melvin Dickerson of Jena, E. J. Dickerson of Jonesboro, Lester, Otis, Gordon, Alvin, and Arvil Dickerson, and Burton Williams, all of Winnfield, and Elzie Jennings of Campti. Mr. Dickerson was born and reared in Winn Parish where he was engaged as a farmer in the Sardis Community until his death. He married Effie Bishop of Winnfield on December 21, 1904. He was an active church worker in his community and was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church. He is survived by his widow; four daughters, Mrs. H. A. Cogley, Mrs. Henry Fox, of the Sardis Community, Miss Lurline Dickerson, of Winnfield, and Miss Thelma Dickerson, who is employed at Camp Claiborne; two sons, Cpl. Roy Dickerson, U. S. Army, Camp Butner, North Carolina, and Henry Dickerson of Longview, Texas; two brothers, J. W. Dickerson and J. F. Dickerson, of Winnfield; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Williams of Winnfield and Mrs. Mose Jennings of Monroe; and two grandchildren.
