Final Rites For Mrs. A. Dickerson Held Here Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Annabelle Colvin Dickerson, 80 year old
Winnfield resident, who died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 1964, in a
Winnfield hospital after a long illness, were held at 5 p.m. Monday in the
chapel of Southern Funeral Home.

Dr. W. L. Holcomb and Rev. W. R. Gage officiated.  Burial was in the Winnfield
Cemetery.

Acting as pallbearers were Rev. Glen Fogger, Leslie Frederick, Austin Abrams,
Troy Smith, Harper Terrill, Duffy Hoffman, George Larson, and Chester Derr.

Mrs. Dickerson was a native of Unionville, Union Parish, and was the daughter
of the late J. A. and Mary Susan Ball Colvin, pioneer settlers of Union
Parish.  They moved to Winnfield in 1900.

In 1904 she was married to W. F. Dickerson, pioneer businessman of Winnfield
who operated a large shoe store here in the early days.  He preceded her in
death in 1938.

Mrs. Dickerson was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in all
phases of church work until ill health forced her retirement.

Mrs. Dickerson's favorite pastimes were reading the Bible and visiting her
neighbors.  Her hobby was baking cakes.

Survivors are one daughter, Myrtle Dickerson of Winnfield; one brother, T. H.
Colvin of Pineville; three sisters, Mrs. A. T. Drewett, Sr., of Winnfield;
Mrs. Johnnye LaFleur of Ville Platte, and Mrs. G. E. Bozeman of El Paso,
Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
