At New Jerusalem Funeral services for Alvin Dickerson, 41, of Shreveport, have been set for 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. William Baker and Rev. Ernest Evans. Burial will be in the Jerusalem Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. The remains will be at Hixson Funeral Home until time for services. According to reports, Mr. Dickerson was found dead at 9 a.m. Wednesday in his car at High Island, Texas, where he had gone on a visit. He had been shot and a pistol was found on the ground below the car. The coroner reported that he had been dead two or three hours when his body was discovered, and his death was ruled a sucicide. The deceased is a native of Winn Parish. He is survived by his wife and six children, Alvin Jr., Linda Jean, Annette, Donna, Pamela, and Wanda Faye, all of Shreveport, and Orville of High Island; three sisters, Mrs. Audry Porter and Mrs. Melba Seramur of New Orleans and Mrs. Blondell Parker of Alexandria.
