All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: June 30, 1949 Winn Parish Enterprise Last Rites Sunday At Mars Hill For Melton Dixon, 43 Funeral services for Melton Dixon, 43, of Verda, were held at the Mars Hill Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 26, with the Rev. Frank Israel officiating. Burial was in Mars Hill Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Dixon, who was employed in oil field work, died suddenly in LaJunta, Colorado, Thursday, June 23, reportedly of a heart attack. A native of Winn Parish, he was born in Wheeling, December 5, 1905, and had lived in that vicinity much of his life. Surviving are two brothers, H. B. Dixon and Merritt Dixon of Verda, and one sister, Mrs. Robert Sylvester of Alexandria. He has many other relatives in Winn and Grant Parishes. Pallbearers were Henry Maxwell, A. Fletcher, Charles Ferris, N. A. Fletcher, J. N. Nugent, M. R. Lengenfelter.
