Riverbank Donald L. Lowery, 28, a resident of Winnfield, was found shot in the back of the head on the bank of Red River in Alexandria, Monday, March 1. Lowery died enroute to a Shreveport hospital, where he was to undergo brain surgery. The victim was fully dressed and his wallet contained $ 11 when he was found. His car is reported missing and an all points bulletin has been sent to try and locate it. The body was located by Alexandria police after they received a call reporting a man lying along the riverbank. His father is Francis Lowery of North Laurel Street in Winnfield. He and his father operated a handle mill near Calvin, Winn Parish Sheriff's Chief Deputy J. J. Crippen reported. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Drewett Funeral Home in Mansfield with the Rev. George Harkins officiating. Burial was in the Mansfield Cemetery. He had lived in Lake Charles and Winnfield, and was a native of Mansfield.
