Last Rites Held For Victim Of Lightning Bolt

Mrs. Lilly Dowden of New Verda died at her home, April 9, 1947.  Mrs. Dowden
was gathering her clothes from a line in the yard when lightning struck her,
killing her instantly.  Mrs. Dowden's body was brought to the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Pardue, South Winnfield, where funeral services
were conducted by Rev. H. J. Mott of the Laurel Heights Baptist Church. 
Burial was in Old Raymer Cemetery at Ashland, La.

Mrs. Dowden is survived by her husband, J. L. Dowden, and one son, Bobby Lynn
Dowden; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Pardue, South Winnfield; three
brothers and three sisters: Mr. Clarence Pardue, Barksdale Field; Doyle
Pardue, Baton Rouge; Delmer Pardue, South Winnfield; Mrs. Ruby Hayes, Ashland;
Mrs. Bessie Baudry, Goldonna; Mrs. Francis Ruth Tims, South Winnfield.
