James Dowden

James L. Dowden, 57, of Winnfield, died Friday in Veterans Hospital in
Shreveport after a short illness.

The funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Southern Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Dean Hedrick officiating.  Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery,
Coushatta.  

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Thelma Dowden; two sons, Bobby L. Dowden of
Minden and James David Dowden of Shreveport; six daughters, Patricia Ann Gunn
of Humble, Texas, Maxine Gooden and Joyce Harrell, both of Hampton, Va., Betty
Long of Winnfield, Jackie Auer of Altoloma, Texas, and Dianna Adams of
Shreveport; one brother, Grant Dowden of Goldonna, two sisters, Minnie Mosley
of Coushatta and Bessie Allen of Paris, Tenn., is mother, Mrs. Sedonia Murphy
of Coushatta and 15 grandchildren.
