DREWITT Trout, Oct 17 (Special) - William Sim Drewitt, 64, died of apoplexy at his home eight miles south of here Monday at 7:30 a.m. and was buried Tuesday at Jena, funeral services being conducted by the Rev. A. S. J. Neill, pastor of the Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Odom, a Baptist minister. Mr. Drewitt for 18 years was a employe of the Goodpine Lumber company, but during the last few years of his life was engaged in farming. Deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Watson Drewitt; eight children, Edward Drewitt of Silver City, Nev., Glen Drewitt of Jena, Miss Freddie Drewitt of Hattiesburg, Miss., Miss Idell Drewitt of Natchez, Miss., Miss Louise Drewitt of Terre Haute, Ind., and Miss Annette Watson and Tommie Drewitt of Trout, also one brother, T. J. Drewitt of St. Gabriel, La., superintendent of the state penitentiary and a former sheriff of LaSalle parish, and a sister, Mrs. H. A. Anders of Jena. Mr. Drewitt was a native of Winn Parish. (NOTE: Original spelling and punctuation have been kept. I'm sure the last name should be spelled Drewett, as that is the spelling used by his descendants in records that I know of. The Methodist church mentioned, and cemetery where he is buried, is most certainly the Nolley Memorial Methodist Church Cemetery in Jena, where his brother and at least two of his descendants are buried.)
