Drewett, Sr. Succumbs June 12 From Short Illness Aaron Tillman Drewett, Sr., 64 years, four months, and sixteen days of age, died at the Baptist Hospital, Alexandria, June 12, 1945, following a 15 day illness. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church, Winnfield, Thursday afternoon at __ o'clock with the pastor, Rev. H. H. McBride and the Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister, officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers. Acting as pallbearers were Bill Montgomery, Jim Watts, Melton Hightower, Joe Mitchell, R. D. Beville, and Lee Grigsby. Born at Sardis, Winn Parish, he was the son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Tilman E. Drewett. He was reared on the farm and came to Winnfield in 1900 where he engaged in the mercantile business for 28 years. He later served with the state department of revenue and then became engaged in the insurance business and as a tie buyer. For twelve years, between 1920 and 1932, Mr. Drewett served as police juror from Ward One, during which time he acted as president of the body. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie Colvin Drewett; two sons, A. T., Jr., of Winnfield and John Colvin Drewett, of Ruston; two daughters, Mrs. Pauline LaCroix of Winnfield, and Mrs. Helen Johnson of Lafayette. He also leaves three brothers, L. E. of LeCompte, W. U. of Winnfield, and Ira Drewett of Montgomery.
