Mrs. Lula Drewett Mrs. Lula Drewett, nee Owens, wife of A. T. Drewett, was born in Lincoln parish, Louisiana, March 11, 1881. Joined the Missionary Baptist church when about 13 years of age and it is needless to say that she lived a live, active and consistant Christian life up to the day of her death, which sad occurrance took place Mar. 1, 1904. She was married to Mr. A. T. Drewett Sept. 28, 1902. She was well educated, holding a first grade certificate as a teacher; had secured and commenced teaching a school at Sardis church in Winn parish when she was seized with the fell disease consumption. She had to abandon her school at once and gradually grew worse until the messenger came. It was the pleasure of this writer to form her acquaintance in the town of Winnfield in the early part of the year 1903, and can truthfully say that I never met a more profound Christian lady. Her face always seemed to be aglow with a radiant light of Christian love while her heart seemed to burn with the fire of heaven. Her greatest delight was to talk of her blessed Christ and what he had done for her. She loved the association of children, whom she took so much delight in teaching. She loved her church and pastor, in fact she loved all good people wherever she found them irrespective of church relation. And now that she is gone we can realize that the church has lost one of its best Christians and the world one of its brightest lights, for she was known throughout her acquaintance as a very influential Christian. May the good Lord comfort the bereaved ones and help them to take their eyes off the world and look to their blessed Savior as she did and say Thou art gone, our precious darling, Never canst thou return; Thou shalt sleep a peaceful slumber Til the resurrection morn.
