Drewett Succumbs At Mansfield Home Was Native of This Parish and Former Resident of Winnfield Thomas J. Drewett, 52, owner of the Drewett Funeral Home at Mansfield and well known undertaker of North Louisiana, died at 6 o'clock Saturday morning, August 17th, 1935. Funeral services were held at the Mansfield Baptist Church Sunday at 3 o'clock with the pastor, Rev. Bennett, in charged, assisted by Rev. A. P. Durham of Pelican, Rev. B. C. Land of Winnfield, and several other ministers. Burial was in the Mansfield Cemetery under direction of Wellborn Funeral Home of Shreveport. A large concourse of relatives and friends from North and Central Louisiana were present at the services and the beautiful floral offerings attested to the esteem in which the deceased was held. Mr. Drewett was born at Sardis, La., and lived for 20 years at Winnfield. He later moved to Alexandria where he was engaged in the undertaking business. In 1919 he moved to Mansfield where he resided until his death. Mr. Drewett was the son of the late Rev. Tillman Drewett, Baptist minister, and Mrs. Fannie Drewett who survives and makes her home in Winnfield. Others surviving are the widow, Mrs. Claire Sharkey Drewett and two daughters, Mrs. Logan Herbert and Mrs. W. E. Griffith; a son, Thomas J., Jr.; four brothers, Levi Drewett, LeCompte; Ira Drewett, Hargis, La., and W. U. and A. T. Drewett of Winnfield. Attending the funeral services from Winnfield were Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Drewett and daughter, Helen, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. LaCroix and baby, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Drewett, Jr., Mr. Colvin Drewett of Ruston, Mr. and Mrs. W. U. Drewett and daughter, Nannie Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Martin, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Allen, Mr. and Mrs. C. I. Rowe, Rev. B. C. Land, Rufus Walsh, Clarence Tannehill, Sheik Van Veckhoven, and Jesse Durham.
