Dunaway Funeral Rites Held May 23 Funeral services for Mrs. Janie Davison Dunaway, 76, were held at Mt. Zion, Wednesday evening, May 23 at 3 p.m., with Rev. Jerry Green of Shreveport in charge assisted by Judge Cas Moss and Rev. Lula Wardlow. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Mrs. Dunaway, known to her friends as "Aunt Janie", was a member of an old pioneer family, her father, the late George W. Davison, Confederate veteran, was one of the pioneer settlers of Ward Five, Winn Parish. She had been a devoted Christian and active church worker since early childhood, a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church for almost 60 years. Born near Mt. Zion September 13, 1874 the greater part of her life was spent in this community. In 1906 she was married to the late J. J. Dunaway, who preceded her in death some five years ago. They were active in the religious and civic affairs of the community and parish. Mr. Dunaway served 20 years as Justice of the Peace, Ward Five, Winn Parish. The large number of friends attending the last rites and the many beautiful floral offerings were evidence of the high esteem in which she was held by all who knew her. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert Cross of Memphis, Tenn., and Mrs. Curtis Davison, Montgomery; a granddaughter, Virginia Davison, also of Montgomery; one sister, Mrs. Callie Brown; five brothers, Van V., H. C., M. C., and Lawson, all of Montgomery, and Melton of Monroe; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Earl V.
