S. 84 In Crash Saturday Night A Calvin man and his bride of five hours met tragic deaths 14 miles west of Winnfield on U. S. 84 Saturday night in a head on collision. State Police filed a charge of negligent homicide against a Winnfield Negro who they said was driving a 1959 Ford which crossed the center line and rammed into the sedan occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Durbin, both 24. The Durbins were married at Quitman in Jackson Parish in the home of the bride's parents at 7 p.m. Mrs. Durbin was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thelton Norred of Quitman and her husband was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Damon Durbin who live on the Friendship Road north of Calvin. Durbin was headed west and was apparently waiting for traffic to clear so he could turn left at the Saline Tourist Courts for the night. Durbin was either stopped or traveling very slowly when the oncoming car, driven by Huey Wyatt, 33 year old Winnfield Negro, crossed the center lane and smashed head-on into the Durbin car. Wyatt was hospitalized with a broken leg and a passenger, A. D. Kile, 28, Winnfield Negro, was hospitalized with undetermined injuries. State Police reported finding been in the car driven by Wyatt. Durbin worked at a Jonesboro supermarket. His wife was a nurse at a clinic there. Funeral Services In addition to her parents, Mrs. Durbin is survived by a brother, Eugene Norred, three sisters, Mrs. Mavis Toms, Saline, Miss Gloria Norred and Diane Norred of Quitman; her maternal grandfather, Lee Goss, Quitman; her grandmother, Mrs. Edgar Norred, Quitman; an aunt, Mrs. Thurman Shell, lives at Sikes. Durbin is survived also by three brothers, Doyle of Castor, Donald and Marvin Durbin, Goldonna; a sister, Mrs. David Maxwell of Hodge. Funeral services were held in the Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Quitman Monday with burial in the Antioch Cemetery. No. 2 Traffic Crash Brings Bill By Grand Jury Huey Overton Wyatt, Winnfield Negro, was indicted by the spring grand jury Wednesday on a charge of negligent homicide arising from the traffic deaths of the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Durbin. Wyatt's was one of six true bills returned by the jury and was the most serious of the six. The homicide case developed after a head-on collision Feb. 20 on U. S. 84 west. The Durbin couple, both 24, had been married only a few hours and were beginning their honeymoon when the accident occurred. State Police, at the time, arrested Wyatt who was hospitalized with injuries. His bond was $ 2,000.
